Healthy Christian Diet
Our bodies need daily food, water and nourishment to be healthy and to be able to perform activities and function properly. The same is true for our spiritual lives. We must feed our spirit daily with things that are nourishing.
Our bodies need daily food, water and nourishment to be healthy and to be able to perform activities and function properly. Throughout the day we need several meals and fluids in order to operate at full capacity. If we don’t eat right or enough and don’t take care of ourselves, over time our bodies will weaken, become less efficient and be more prone to sickness and disease.
The same is true for our spiritual lives. We must feed our spirit daily with things that are nourishing. By doing these absolutely necessary things you keep your spiritual immune system strong enough to fight spiritual “sickness”.
You cannot be an effective Christian and serve the Lord fully apart from these things:
CHURCH & FELLOWSHIP WITH MATURE CHRISTIANS
“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24-25)
“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” (Proverbs 27:17)
“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I (Jesus) in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20)
BIBLE READING
“Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” (Joshua 1:8)
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16)
PRAYER
“Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:36)
“O give thanks unto the LORD, for [he is] good: for his mercy [endureth] for ever.” (Psalms 107:1)
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.” (Ephesians 6:18)
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you” (Matthew 7:7)
If we do not keep these things as part of our daily spiritual diet, over time we will weaken and be more vulnerable to luke-warmness, attacks, temptation, and falling. This dangerous path starts slowly and we will not even notice until it is too late.
Some of the greatest Christian men and women have fallen and go back to the world, this did not happen overnight but over a period of time.
If you find yourself inconsistent with church, Bible reading or not communicating with God regularly, watch out because you are malnourished. Feed yourself with the things of God and you will be healthy Christian.
“And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” (Psalm 1:3)
